NMBU Biospec Norway team tours Europe

In the past months, the NMBU Biospec Norway team has been busy presenting PHOTONFOOD activities at conferences throughout Europe. From Dublin to Rome, from Nantes to Prague to Amsterdam, they gave presentations and shared knowledge with other experts in the field while exchanging thoughts on their research.

12th International Conference on clinical spectroscopy (SPEC2022)

19-22 June 2022, Dublin, Ireland

At SPEC2022, NMBU members presented in two different areas. Valeria Tafintseva held an oral presentation titled ‘Sparse spectral analysis of infrared spectra: preprocessing and modelling’, while her colleague Nageshvar Patel presented his poster titled ‘Flexible mid-infrared photonic solutions for rapid farm-to-fork sensing of food contaminants’. Both presentations attracted an interested audience and led to a lively exchange of ideas!
XVIII conference on Chemometrics in Analytical Chemistry (CAC)

29 August – 2 September 2022, Rome, Italy

Valeria Tafintseva from NMBU’s Biospec Norway team attended CAC to meet fellow scientists in the field of chemometrics. She gave a talk titled ‘Modelling and preprocessing of sparse infrared spectra’. The presented topic on laser tuning and data modelling attracted a lot of attention and got positive feedback from research fellows. There were very many famous chemometricians present at the conference including Harald Martens who got a prize for the life-long contribution to the development of chemometrics.

10th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA)

6-9 September 2022, Prague, Czech Republic

At RAFA, members of several PHOTONFOOD partners presented their part in the project and first outcomes. Read the full news article: RAFA 2022
Miriam won a second prize at IPSC!
3rd International Plant Spectroscopy Conference (IPSC)

6-9 September 2022, Nantes, France

Congratulations to Miriam Aledda! In Nantes, she presented her poster on ‘Mycobiota of aquaponic production and source tracking of fungal contamination by FTIR spectroscopy’, work which was done within the PHOTONFOOD project – and won the second prize. Well done!

14th Rapid Methods Europe conference (RME2022)

3-10 October 2022, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

At RME2022, PHOTONFOOD collaborated with diverse projects to present a session on Advanced Photonics for Food Safety and Quality Testing. Read the full news article: RME2022
